I will work with you to develop a personalised care package based on your needs and stage of pregnancy. The typical antenatal appointment schedule comprises:
• Visits every 4 weeks until 28 weeks
• Visits every 2 weeks until 36 weeks
• One private scan at 36-37 weeks
• Then weekly visits until birth.
During these visits I will check your blood pressure, test your urine and assess the well being, growth and position of your baby including listening to the fetal heart rate and assessing the position of your baby in the later stages of pregnancy. We will work together to develop your birth plan and ensure you are prepared for the new delivery. Each visit can last up to 2 hours so there is plenty of time for me to discuss any current concerns regarding your pregnancy, to help you prepare for labour and just as important; the time after the birth.
Uniquely, my antenatal package includes a private fetal well-being scan at 36-37 weeks. Latest research shows that an ultra-sound scan carried out at this stage of pregnancy can lower the chance of a breech delivery or Caesarian section. The scan will assess baby's position, the functioning of the placenta and provide an estimated birth weight whilst also undertaking a general review of your baby's well-being.
You will be supported by me in your home at a time suitable to you, whether this be evenings or weekends and I will be available anytime for text/phone support if you have any antenatal queries.
I encourage you to book with your chosen hospital so that they have your history available when you arrive there in labour. They will also offer you your routine screening blood tests and your dating and anomaly scan for convenience*. Other than that you do not usually need to attend hospital antenatal appointments.
This package is particularly well suited to women planning a hospital birth or an elective Caesarean section but who want the support and continuity of an experienced known midwife throughout pregnancy.
* If you prefer I can arrange your dating and anomaly scan privately for an additional fee.

Experience shows that when new mothers feel supported and can access quality postnatal care outcomes are significantly enhanced.
